It’s no small feat that after 12 years married, 15 years in the relationship that we can still get lost in conversation for hours into the night.

Every dad needs a tribe, thankful for mine. To all the dads out there, while you’re busy holding up your end of the bargain, don’t be afraid to ask for and accept help when you need it. And, when you’re in a position to, remember to pay it forward.

In the absence of purpose, young people are aimless, drifting from one poor decision to the next. As I struggle daily to parent a teenager, I’m learning that purpose is something that has to be found, it can’t be given.

Do you want to minimize the distance between you and your child? Think about extending grace and mercy. Grace is getting what you don’t deserve, and mercy is not getting what you do deserve.
