People get lost and then find their way back. That’s life. As parents we should be intentional about ensuring our kids have a strong moral compass and know how to use it.

When was the last time you just sat and peered into the future? What did you see and what did it prompt you to do?

My daughter Riley has been nominated to serve on her school’s student council. As her “campaign manager” I get to help her plan her campaign. Who do you think is more nervous?

Yesterday my wife snapped a photo of our daughter (London) trying to walk in my shoes.  It was classic little kid stuff.  Daddy comes home from work tired, takes off his shoes and boom…the game is on to see if the two year old can fit in and walk in his shoes.  What struck me most though about watching her was the symbolism of it all.  I started wondering, how will she figuratively learn to walk in my shoes as she gets older? Make no mistake about it, our choices, good or bad have consequences and our decisions will echo into future generations.

Families have the ability to drift over time. We have to be intentional about forging bonds while they’re young so they’ll last into adulthood.

Even in the moments we couldn’t plan for, our approach was the same: keep calm and carry on. Thank God it paid off.

Two years ago in the midst of uncertain times, in stepped hope, in the form of London Hope Wakefield. We’ve never been the same since.

To whom much is given, much is required. Right now is a huge teaching moment for us and our kids, what kind of empathy and service will we model?

Yesterday’s time with my family viewing the once in a lifetime eclipse, and the time afterwards talking with my grandmother reminded me that as seasons of life change, it’s ok to call an audible to make sure your priorities change with them.
